Outdoor Activities

Plymouth has the good fortune of being located just east of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, offering visitors four seasons of great recreational opportunities. The Forest offers biking, hiking, camping, skiing, snowmobiling and a fabulous vista of fall colors.

In addition to local favorite golf courses, Plymouth is within an easy drive to world-renowned golf courses such as Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits, home of the 2012 Women's US Open.

Besides Lake Michigan, there are many inland lakes and rivers with good fishing. Winter sports bring visitors to snowmobile and ski, both downhill and cross-country. Visit when you can - there's always something to do!

Biking

Kettle Moraine State Forest includes 14,500 acres and has several challenging off-road mountain bike trails to challenge all levels of bikers. A map of the Old Plank Road Trail is available upon request. View Plymouth Bike Trail map.

Camping

Fish, bird watch, and relax at Marsh Park in Elkhart Lake. Three Guys and a Grill Restaurant is located on-site serving scrumptious grilled food to hungry campers and other diners.

Plymouth Rock Camping Resort - (920) 892-4252
4 miles north of Plymouth on Hwy. 67 on Little Elkhart Lake. Plymouth Rock is a beautiful camping resort with two large heated pools, whirlpool, kiddie pool, 9-hole mini golf, asphalt roller track and two large playgrounds, 483 sites available with all types of hook-ups.

Sundance Farm Campground - (920) 893-0384
Sundance Farm Campground has 22 sites with low rates. It is situated in a quiet rural setting. Electric, water, showers, dump-stations are available. Seasonal sites available. The campground is located on the northwest side of Plymouth, approximately 2 miles south of Road America.

County Fair

Plymouth hosts the Sheboygan County Fair which is held on Labor Day weekend. It is one of the largest county fairs in Wisconsin and includes over 16,000 exhibits. Attractions include live music, animals, carnival rides and tractor pulls. Don't forget the deep-fried cheese, cotton candy, caramel apples, cream puffs and a local favorite - brats!

Fall Foliage Drive

Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive - (888) 693-8263
Approximately 25 miles of the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive run through western Sheboygan County, providing spectacular displays of fall color. Peak color generally runs from mid-September through mid-October. Call for a driving brochure. The Greenbush Trail offers four loops, rolling/open, wooded, intermediate.The Parnell trail offers 7.6 km rolling, wooded, expert trail. Park sticker required. Maps available. Open daylight hours.

An information center that orients visitors to the Ice Age Scientific Reserve. An interpretive film is shown twice each hour. Mural, exhibits, guidebooks, evening programs. Open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Park sticker required for admission.

Kettle Moraine State Forest - (262) 626-2116
The Kettle Moraine State Forest, Northern Unit, runs from Glenbeulah in the North, south to Kewaskum, near West Bend. It is named for its geologically significant land formations, created by the movement and melting of glaciers between 10,000 and 25,000 years ago. The 30,000 acre forest offers an abundant variety of recreational trails, from hiking, biking, horseback riding, nature observation, camping, swimming, boating, and fishing in the summer to snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing in the winter.

Marsh Tower
Climb the tallest wooden tower in Wisconsin! The 80 ft. wooden observation tower includes four large viewing platforms. Located at the Broughton Sheboygan Marsh Park and Wildlife Area, the tower gives you a great view of 14,000 acres. It is near the entrance to the county-owned 30-acre park near the junction of County Highways J and P northwest of Elkhart Lake and 10 minutes from Plymouth. The Marsh Tower is visible from the Marsh Lodge restaurant and tavern. A camera is attached to the top of the tower allowing patrons in the Marsh Lodge ( and those unable to climb the tower) to enjoy the view.

County Trunk A, Parnell
Located inside the Kettle Moraine State Forest, this 60-foot high wooden tower was rebuilt in 1988 and offers a panoramic view of the forest and surrounding farmlands. On a clear day, observers can see as far as 25 miles! Park sticker required for admission. Open year round.

Horseback Riding

Sundance Farm boarding stable has a nationally certified resident Riding Instructor. Trail riding is available for regular lesson clients and boarders (lesson horses available). Sundance Farm features a horse evaluating competition course and clinics with former Olympic competitors. Sundance Farm will be the home of a U.S. Regional event September 2015. Sundance Farm is located on northwest of Plymouth, approximately 2 miles south of Road America.

See dirt track racing at its finest at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. Adults $10; students $5; children 11 and under $5; if accompanied by an adult, children 11 and under are free.

Road America is known as North America's longest and finest natural road racing facility. This track offers four miles and 14 turns on 530 rolling, wooden acres. Specialty races include vintage cars, motorcycles and Indy cars.

Road America's Go-Kart Racing -(800) 365-RACE
Race go-karts on Road America's Briggs & Stratton MotorPlex Go-Kart Road Course. Go-kart racing isn't just for kids anymore! Road America Kart Club offers two championship racing series, the RAKC Saturday series and TERAKC Tuesday evening series. Drivers compete in different classes according to age and engine choice (Kid Karts age 5 to 7, Sports Class 8 to 12, Junior Class 12 to 15, Senior Class 15 and up). RAKC Race Series runs both 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines on select weekends. The TERAKC race series runs 4-cycle engines and Kid Karts on Tuesday nights.

This outdoor skateboard park has something for everyone, regardless of age or skill level, including quarter pipe hips, launch ramps, bank ramp hips, jump boxes, wedges (flat and stair), grind rails, a roll in, a spine and a grind ledge.

Water Activities

Plymouth Aquatic Center - Pool - (920) 893-8351
Refresh yourself on those hot and humid days with an invigorating dip in our outdoor pool. If you are more adventurous, try our water slide! We also offer swimming lessons and water aerobics for the serious water lover.

Community Swim - (920) 892-5068
Take a dip in Plymouth High School's indoor pool. Swimmers must be able to swim, or an adult must accompany them. Minimum water depth is 42 inches. Participants must furnish their own towel and swim suit. A lap lane is available during this open swim time. Please make sure the pool is open before dropping off your children. Cost is $1 for grades 5 and under, $2 for grades 6-12, $3 for adults and $5 for a family.

Winter Sports

Cross-Country Skiing - (262) 626-2116
An easy drive into the hills from anywhere in the Midwest, the Kettles are rapidly becoming the weekend stop for ski enthusiasts. Local devotees of the sport have developed a log cabin shelter where skiers gather to swap stories about their long treks into the woods. Rugged wilderness survivalists can winter camp in the park, while others cozy up to a fireplace in one of the area's many fine lodgings.

Nutt Hill will open for the season when 10-12" of natural snow is on the ground. A heated shelter is available for warming up and grabbing a soda, hot chocolate or snack. On Thursdays, the entire family skis for only $20 (city resident) or $25 (non-resident). Take Highway 23 west, exit Highway 67. Turn right at stop sign. Turn west on West Main St. Follow West Main St. to the very top of hill.

Snowmobiling
Check trail conditions. Snowmobilers enjoy a system of paths that are marked with highway signs. Access points and trailer parking include: The Sheboygan Marsh Park, Elkhart Lake, and The Recreation Trail, along State Hwy. 23. Parking at Ranger Park and wayside Highway 57 and County Highway C east of Fleet Farm. The Kettle Moraine State Forest offers 58 miles of groomed trails.
