The Cheese Derby Day celebration was initiated in 1954 in honor of the city’s major industry and became a major event for more than a decade. A highlight of the celebration became the annual Cheese Derby parade, which featured ornate floats and draws dozens of bands not only from Wisconsin and the Midwest, but throughout the United States and even Canada.
